West High to Host World Language Career Expo

West Aurora High School formally invites local employers to participate in a World Language Career Expo at the high school on Monday, October 23, 2017.

The World Language Career Expo will consist of numerous professionals from different fields who speak other languages. Each representative will have a table where they can showcase their career and how they use another language in their work. Students will have the opportunity to visit all of the tables during their World Language class period; they will explore a wide variety of careers, see the real‐world application of the languages they are learning in class, and engage in dialogue with respected area  professionals about their work.

As an exhibitor at this event, employers will impact more than 1,600 students enrolled in French, Spanish, and Heritage Spanish classes at West Aurora. In the last two years, 173 graduating seniors have earned the Illinois State Seal of Biliteracy and Commendation toward Biliteracy in Arabic, French, German, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

The World Language Career Expo will take place in the Veterans’ Memorial Field House from 8:55 a.m. to 3 p.m., with setup from 8 to 8:45 a.m. The district will provide both breakfast and lunch to all exhibitors, as well as a hospitality area with refreshments and personal-item storage.
