the village of north aurora

The motto of Aurora's northern neighbor, “The Village with a View to the Future,” is perhaps most appropriate. The town is looking ahead, expanding its boundaries and inviting new residents, as housing developments and new businesses, at a steady flow, become fixtures of the community.

In 1908, a fire department was established. By 1910, the population swelled to about 300. The next year the village was wired for electricity and gas mains were dug. In 1914, telephone lines were brought in. Five years later sewers and water mains were built. By 1927 the Water Works System was built.

In 1952, an ordinance was passed for the numbering of buildings and residences for addressing consistency. And in 1961, an official police department was created for law enforcement, replacing the Village Marshall, public peace-keeper since 1914.
