Erik Carlson is the Workforce Development Specialist with the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce. In his role with the chamber, Erik coordinates the chamber’s workforce development initiatives including the Pathways to Prosperity Initiative helping to fill workforce pipelines with skilled candidates and connect the pipelines to employers.
Originally from Chicago, Erik has worked with organizations such as Heartland Alliance: Refugee and Immigrants Community Services in Chicago, One Summer Chicago: Youth Employment Program, and the Rock County Sexual Assault Recovery Program in Beloit Wisconsin. Erik recently served in the Peace Corps in Shkoder, Albania focusing on English education and led the national Albanian Model United Nations program.
Erik received his BA from Beloit College in Sociology and German. He is currently finishing up his master’s degree in Sociology with a focus on Community and Economic Development from Illinois State University’s Stevenson Center for Applied Community and Economic Development. Erik has recently moved to Aurora. In his free time Erik enjoys running, reading, spending time with friends, tending his many jade plants, and drinking a strong cup of coffee.
