Karen Putman is the Director of Communications for the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce. In her role, she creates and directs communications both internally and externally. She works collaboratively with the Director of Member Engagement and the Events Specialist to effectively promote Chamber programs that enhance businesses in the North Aurora and Aurora region. In addition, Karen works closely with the President & CEO to assist with day-to-day operations, programs, and projects at the Chamber.

Karen received her Bachelor of Arts in English with a double concentration in Creative Writing and Professional Writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2022. Prior to joining the Chamber full-time, she was the Marketing and Communications Intern at the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce under the guidance of the Director of Member Engagement, Colleen Doyle. She is also from a family that owns and operates several small businesses in the Peoria area, making her in tune with the unique challenges they face. Along with growing up in the family license and title business, she also has 10 years of experience working as a personal caregiver and a Retention and Recruitment Specialist in caregiver agencies. Her knowledge of small business operations, communications strategies, and content development helps her craft engaging messages across various platforms. 

Outside the office, you will find Karen at her favorite coffee shop, and local bookstores, or biking along the river path where she resides in Naperville, IL.
